others may have wine, i have poetry

We don't read and write poetry because it's cute.

We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race.

And the human race is filled with passion.

And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life.

But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.

Choice

For you,
I could make up a thousand excuses

That you are busy, on the go
That you have other things to do

That you are just not that kind
And that I really don't mind

That you don't have the time
That you are no longer mine

I could think up of a thousand reasons

For your absence
For your indifference
For your insensitivity
Sometimes bordering on cruelty

But the truth is that
You aren't here
Because you choose not to

I could make up a thousand excuses
for you not being here

But right now
I choose not to
