others may have wine, i have poetry

We don't read and write poetry because it's cute.

We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race.

And the human race is filled with passion.

And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life.

But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.

It excites me
It invites me
It titillates me
It surprises me
It inspires me
It satisfies me
It frustrates me

It makes me happy and sad all at once
It takes me high and low and lets me bounce
in between them

It saddens me
It gladdens me
....
yes..
Poetry still writes me..
